ELMHURST, IL – iMotorsports wants to take on an Indian Motorcycle franchise, and it says it needs help from the local government to do it.
Fortunately, the local Development, Planning and Zoning Committee recently recommended a $500,000 sales tax rebate for the Dealer. It’s similar to other rebate arrangements the city has with auto dealers, according to the Chicago Tribune.
“The new deal would provide for $100,000 upfront, money co-owner Tim Walter says is needed to expand and upgrade its facililty to convince Polaris Industries Inc. that iMotorsports can perform as the area dealer for… Indian Motorcycles,” reported Gradon Megan.
In addition to used inventory, iMotorsports also sells Polaris Slingshot and Can-Am Spyder vehicles.
The middle- and upper-income western suburbs of Chicago have been without Indian representation since American Heritage Motorcycles, which operated two Indian dealerships in Illinois and three in Ohio, decided to shut down in 2016. The nearest Indian stores are in the far north and far south suburbs, and in Wisconsin and Indiana.
