"I have entertained the possibility of selling Desperado Motorcycles for several years now and in light of some recent developments I have decided to move forward with that sale," Nicklus, 61, wrote in a release issued Monday. The custom builder added that he will now be devoting his time and energy into his one-off motorcycle design and manufacturing company, Jeff Nicklus Customs LCC in addition to a three-year national sponsorship agreement with two new NHRA professional category cars through his other company, Nicklus Performance Works. "I have retained ownership of Desperado Motorcycles in hopes that my son, Conrad, would someday step into my shoes here. However, with his recent major change in college to pre-med, his taking over the company is no longer a possibility," Nicklus said. The Magnolia, Texas-based company is debt free and is being offered as a turnkey operation, Nicklus said. The sale includes six acres and income producing property, all trademarked names, the entire manufacturing facility, trucks, trailers, manufacturing processes, proprietary designs, parts, drawings, templates, furniture, fixtures, inventory, tools, and equipment. Desperado Motorcycles has five bikes in its 2010 lineup. The bikes are built at individual assembly stations one at a time. The company states on its website that, "at any given time we only produce a maximum of five to eight motorcycles per week," with a limit of 300 motorcycles per model year. The motorcycles are listed in the Kelley Blue Book and in the N.A.D.A. Guide. For more information visit the Desperado Motorcycles website.
