In finally offering the inspired Sportster to American customers, it appears as if Harley-Davidson is going to right what many view as one of the most egregious wrongs ever inflicted on the American motorcycling community. News of the Euro-only model was met by the U.S. Riding public with loud dissention and a few boos and hisses.Dile M.Brown, owner of Knoxville Harley-Davidson and a member of Dealernews editorial advisory board, confirmed that the Motor Co. notified its dealerships via e-mail that the XR1200 would be available. Word about the release started circulating through the Internet Monday morning after Harley-Davidson of Westminster (Calif.) posted information on its Web site that the store was taking pre-orders through Dec. 15 on the bikes.
