Indian Passes CARB Standards

Californians will soon be able to buy Indian Motorcycles in their home state.

The Chief has passed California Air Resources Board standards, opening the way for the first two of five planned dealerships.

The company’s website says stores will be opening soon in Fresno and in Harbor City, in Los Angeles’ South Bay area. Other locations have not been disclosed.

"We know California is going to be a great market for us," Indian president Steve Heese told the Los Angeles Times.

The new franchises are set to open co-located with established dealerships. Indian Motorcycle of Fresno will be based at Herwaldt Subaru, while the Harbor City site will be under the banner of California Harley-Davidson Indian Motorcycle Los Angeles. The dealer has been selling Harleys since 1976.
