Indian engineers create air-powered motorcycle engine

Two Indian engineers have “conceptually designed” a new motorcycle engine that uses compressed air to turn a small air turbine, generating enough power to run the vehicle for up to 40 minutes, according to foreign press reports.

An article about the engine designed by Bharat Raj Singh and Onkar Singh appears in the May 7 issue of the JRSE, an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published by the American Institute of Physics. Their design can be combined with a compressed air cylinder as a replacement for traditional internal combustion engines, according to the . Bharat Raj Singh, designing a compact but high-capacity air tank to store sufficient fuel for long rides was a major hurdle.
