ADP Lightspeed's Locator tops $1.1 billion in searchable parts

The Parts Locator integrated into LightspeedNXT now can access more than 29 million items with a retail value of $1.1 billion, ADP Lightspeed recently announced.

Dealers, OEMs and distributors submit their inventory data to the Parts Locator. Data is automatically collected nightly, then made available to dealers across North America using LightspeedNXT’s Parts module for search. This feature enables dealers to quickly search for parts not on their shelves and provides another outlet to move aging inventory.

“Right away we sold a part to a dealer from New York state that was on our shelf for 11 years, for $90,” Lance Mirkin of Pocono Motorsports told ADP Lightspeed after submitting the dealership’s parts inventory. “Now a month later I am up to $980 in sales of dead parts. This should be on every dealer’s screen.”

ADP Lightspeed said that since the Locator’s launch in July 2008, it has been adopted quickly due to its ease of use and low cost ($20 a month) to post inventory information. Locator searches are free and conducted within the invoicing screen of LightspeedNXT, eliminating the need to log in to a separate system to search for parts. Today there are more than 650 dealers posting inventory to the database along with 29 OEMs and distributors providing warehouse information.
