Aftercare adds GPS tracking device to F&I offerings

Aftercare, a provider of F&I products, now offers a remote GPS tracking device for powersports vehicles.

Dealers are selling and installing the AftercareGPS device. Customers can also buy the tracking system directly from Aftercare and install it themselves. The system retails for $639 (uninstalled), which includes a one-year subscription to a personalized tracking map. The renewal subscription fee is $80 per year.

AftercareGPS can be set up to send alerts to a cell phone, an e-mail address or both. Alerts include those for motion, low battery, speed violation, geo fence entrance and departure. Owners can modify the alerts to meet their preferences.

“The AftercareGPS system is a natural fit for us because it offers tremendous peace of mind, and that’s what Aftercare has been all about for more than 25 years,” says Tom McCarthy, the company's vice president.

AftercareGPS comes with a small unit that is attached to the vehicle's battery. The customer receives a unique code that allows him or her to log on to AftercareGPS.com and create a user name and password.

AftercareGPS.com also retains a history of the vehicle’s use. “Remember that restaurant with the great apple pie? Where was that? With AftercareGPS you can locate that special restaurant in moments!” says the product’s marketing material. “Reminisce about a previous trip or plan a new adventure with the help of the AftercareGPS.”

If the vehicle is ever stolen, the owner could find it within a matter of minutes, contact the police and have it recovered before any damage is done, Aftercare claims.

“AftercareGPS offers huge profit potential for participating dealers, including residual income from renewal fees,” the company says.
