AFX North America Inc. is recalling about 984 of its FX-28 modular helmets manufactured in December 2007.
The FX-28 helmets in sizes extra-small, small and medium fail to comply with the penetration requirements of Federal Motor vehicle Safety Standard No. 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
The helmets in question were produced between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31, 2007.
AFX North America Inc. was established in 1996 and is based in Cerritos, Calif. The company sources its helmets from an overseas supplier. The helmets are distributed to dealers exclusively by Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties.
AFX says it will notify owners and replace the helmets free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin in September.
Dealers and owners may contact AFX at 519-686-6477.
