TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The owner of Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson and Riders Harley-Davidson has plans for a new store in Tuscaloosa next year.

Bill Peek has acquired a 2.5-acre site near Interstate 20/59 to build the new T-Town Harley-Davidson.

"Just as soon as all our plans are together, we hope to start building," Peek told the Tuscaloosa News. "We hope to have it open by late spring."

Peek said Tuscaloosa's continuing population growth convinced him it was time to put a dealership there.

The satellite dealership will be smaller than Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson in Pelham. But Peek said the facility, which will be about 15,000 sq. ft., will offer a full range of products and services. Like most H-D dealerships, it will be open seven days a week. It will have about 25 employees.

Peek said he plans to meet with a Harley-Davidson design team early next month to go over the site and develop the layout and building design. The new dealership will represent at least a $2 million investment.
