The AMA has placed its external communications functions with an outside consultant. Pete terHorst and his firm, SymPoint Communications, will be directing PR for member services and racing.

Grant Parsons, managing editor at American Motorcyclist, is now head of the AMA's own communications department. He'll continue to direct the publication and will oversee the association's online activities.

As a result of these moves, the AMA has closed its Pro Racing office in Brea, Calif., to consolidate operations at the home office in Ohio and said goodbye to Kerry Graeber, who handled racing PR from the Brea office.
