AMA Heralds MX's Early Years

The AMA Heritage Museum has installed a portion of its History of Motocross display into San Diego's Balboa Park automotive museum for a three-month run. "Motocross: The Early Years" features bikes, riders and personalities from 1966 to the early 1970s. On hand to celebrate the unveiling were such rider pioneers as Marty Smith, Gary Jones, Steve Stackable, Lars Larson, Gary and David Bailey, Brock Glover, Bill Silverthorn and Marty Tripes. Larry "Motomouth" Huffman emceed the event, which included interviews with the racers and auctions of a Honda CRF450, a custom bicycle and period photos and posters, the proceeds of which were donated to the auto museum.
