LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Riders on a budget have a new retail option specializing in secondhand motorcycle gear and goodies including signs, helmets, clothing, leathers, seats, purses and boots.
“There’s really not another store like this,”Sherry Bush, owner of 2nd Ride, told Lakewood Patch. “It’s a nice mix. I am selective about what I buy because I want to be selective about what I sell.”
Actually, this type of retail operation seems to be getting traction. The business plan is similar to a consignment store started in 2010 by Jessica Prokup in Long Beach, Calif. And there is another similar business called 2nd RideAround in Jacksonville, Fla.
Bush, who holds a day job as an accountant, said she’s had a steady stream of customers since opening the store a month ago. “It’s been going well,” she said. “I think it’s going to take off.”
The store is open noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and “closed to ride” on Sundays.
