A snowmobile club in Gorham, Maine, had just finished paying off its clubhouse when an arsonist burned it to the ground early Saturday.
"It is pretty upsetting," Grant Caron, treasurer of the Gorham Sno Goers, told the Portland Press-Herald. "We just made our last payment. We thought we were finally out of the woods." Although the building was insured, Caron said the club lost all its trail signs in the fire.
Steve McCausland, spokesman for the state Fire Marshal's Office, said a team of four fire marshal investigators are working with local firefighters and police to find the person who set that fire and two others, one of which resulted in the injury of a firefighter. The other two fires were at vacant homes.
