Dealernews Names Top 100 Retailers For 2007 Doc's Harley-Davidson, Kirkwood, Mo., a mid-sized single-line Harley dealership, won this year's Grand Prize trophy by scoring top marks in all judging categories. Owner Pat Bush is the first female owner-operator that has won the Top 100 Grand Prize. Shenandoah Harley-Davidson, Staunton, Va., and Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson, Loveland, Colo., won first and second runners-up, respectively. This also was the first time in the history of the competition that dealers from a single vehicle brand won the top three awards. While dealers from the "big four" Japanese brands -- Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha -- tended to dominate the competition in years past, Harley dealers stepped up to make it the most successful OEM brand in the 2007 Top 100. "Harley dealers generally account for a high number of entries, but this year an astounding 86 percent of Harley dealer entries made it to the Top 100," says Mike Vaughan, publisher of Dealernews. "This is a testament to the kind of dealers that Harley-Davidson has been recruiting and establishing for the past 20 years." Honorable mentions went to Erico Motorsports, a Denver dealer of European motorcycle and scooter brands, and J&L Harley-Davidson of Sioux Falls, S.D.
