Polaris Unveils Four-Seated RZR, Endorsed by Robby Gordon

Polaris has unveiled the first sport side-by-side with four seats. This month, dealers will begin selling the Ranger RZR 4 Robby Gordon Edition for a retail price of $14,999 ($17,999 in Canada). The unit is the first model endorsed by the off-road racer, who formed a relationship with Polaris nine months ago.

“Polaris saw a market for a multi-passenger sport vehicle at a significantly lower price than an expensive sand car or rail,” Eric Nault, product manager for the RZR 4, stated in a press release. “The Ranger RZR 4 fills that need for a sport side-by-side experience for multiple passengers.”

Here’s what else Polaris is saying: The RZR 4 has all the performance and attributes of the RZR family. With a 800cc High Output Twin EFI engine, it has a class-leading power-to-weight ratio and strong acceleration. The unit’s 60-inch width, coupled with a patented design placing the engine behind the back seat for a low center of gravity, makes the RZR 4 more agile than most competitive two-seat side-by-sides. At 1,255 lbs., the RZR 4 is also lighter than many two-passenger vehicles.

The unit has 12 inches of suspension travel and ground clearance. The suspension includes new Fox Podium X 2.0 piggyback reservoir shocks and chrome moly front upper A-arms. The rear anti-sway bar and dual-rate springs keep the chassis flat through corners, Polaris says, and the rolled independent rear suspension makes for a smooth ride. The suspension is coupled with Polaris’ all-wheel-drive system that automatically engages when the rider needs more forward traction and automatically reverts back when no longer needed.

The RZR 4 has tilt steering offering 10 inches of range and a heel pocket for better throttle response and control. It also comes with an adjustable front passenger handrail. Polaris says rear passengers have ample head room, and like the front passengers, they also have a handrail, a 12-volt plug-in and two cup holders. All four bucket seats are interchangeable and offer 4 inches of front-to-rear adjustability, making it easy to switch drivers. For safety, the RZR 4 has four side protective nets.

The graphics are borrowed from the TORC truck Gordon raced at Crandon, Wisc., as well as the No. 7 NSCS Toyota Camry he raced during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Labor Day Classic 500. The black, blue and white theme sports the Robby Gordon Off-Road logo on the front side panels with race-inspired graphics, cut-and-sew seats and Maxxis Big Horn tires with Black Bruiser rims.

“At Robby Gordon Off-Road, we build the highest-performance, most elite off-road vehicles in the world,” Gordon stated in a news release. “I hope Polaris customers like the new Ranger RZR 4 Robby Gordon Edition as much as we do.”

A full line of Pure Polaris accessories, including roofs, cabs, bumpers, brush guards, windshields and Lock & Ride products also will be available, including many of the existing Ranger RZR and RZR S accessories that fit the new unit also.
