MARS HILL, Maine - An Aroostook County grand jury has indicted a Mars Hill woman for allegedly stealing more than $26,000 from a local ATV club over a four-year period.

The woman was indicted on a charge of theft, according to an indictment list released by District Attorney Todd Collins and published in the Bangor Daily News.

Darrell Crandall, chief deputy of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, said the president of the Big 13 ATV Club in Mars Hill contacted police in late August after noticing financial irregularities. Sheriff’s detectives began a criminal investigation that led to the club’s treasurer, who is accused of committing the thefts between 2010 and August of this year. None of the money has been recovered.
