SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Dealernews welcomes retail sales consultant, award-winning speaker and best-selling author Mark Rodgers as a regular contributor, starting in September.
Rodgers' "Accselleration" column for sales and management teams will appear monthly in Dealernews and on Dealernews.com, and will be accompanied by an additional blog on Dealernews.com's new blog mini-site.
“The Accselleration column and accompanying blog will focus on pragmatic advice and thought-provoking topics, and will be designed to help powersports retailers do one thing: sell more, faster. The content will sometimes be funny, sometimes irreverent – but always insightful,” Rodgers noted.
Rodgers’ announcement is a homecoming – as he returns to Dealernews after more than a decade with a column and blog that will speak to dealers of all brands, independent retailers, and service and performance shops.
“Adding Mark Rodgers to the team is a big part of our editorial strategy to provide tactical information dealers can use to take advantage of a once-again growing market -- and overcome serious competitive threats on the local, regional and national levels,” said Mary Slepicka, content director. “A stronger, smarter dealer is more successful. Successful dealers sell more product. Sell more product, and the entire industry benefits.”
“The motorcycle industry is at a critical juncture, and the actions taken by OEMs and retailers now will have reverberations for years to come,” Rodgers said. “Dealernews is marshalling the resources to make a substantive contribution to improving the condition of everyone involved. When I found out what the team at Dealernews was planning on doing, I knew it was time for me to come home and do my part.”
Rodgers is principal partner of Peak Dealership Performance, and has spent more than 25 years helping dealers achieve “peak” sales performance. He is the award-winning author of the best-selling McGraw-Hill book, “Accelerate the Sale: Kick-Start Your Personal Style to Close More Sales, Faster.”
He began his career in the powersports industry in 1987 at Hannum's Harley-Davidson and Kawasaki, near Philadelphia, Pa. To kick off the new column, the September cover of Dealernews will feature Rodgers with the team at Hannum's.
“Mark is, by far, the most dynamic, inspirational and educational man in this motorcycle industry,” said veteran Dealernews columnist and industry consultant Dave Koshollek. “He can captivate and entertain the audience, and more importantly, deliver the goods. I am confident that each and every person that reads his column will be enriched by the experience.”
Rodgers will also anchor the sales education track at the upcoming National Retail Conference produced by Dealernews at the 2014 Dealer Expo. His “Accsellerate the Sale” three-hour workshop for retailers will be held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 4, at McCormick Place West in Chicago (retailers registered for Dealer Expo receive free admission to the conference; for more information, click HERE).
