LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Polaris introduced its 2015 snowmobiles this week at its annual dealer meeting. The new AXYS platform took center stage and is the basis of nine 2015 models. Polaris also introduced two new long-track Indy models.
Rush and Switchback
The AXYS platform is used for the Polaris Rush and Switchback models, and Polaris says the platform is designed to increase rider-balanced control, acceleration and rider comfort. Control comes from three points: a new location for the rider, centralized vehicle mass and optimized suspension geometry.
The AXYS platform provides better acceleration through the simple practice of more power and less weight. Polaris is using a new 800 HQ engine with electronically controlled exhaust valves. On the flip side, the new platform presents a 38lb. weight savings over previous models.
The 2015 models that utilize AXYS include: 600 RUSH PRO-S ($11,099), 800 RUSH PRO-S ($12,299), 800 RUSH PRO-X ($12,699), 800 Switchback PRO-S ($12,799), 600 Switchback PRO-S ($11,599), 600 Switchback Adventure ($12,199) and 800 Switchback PRO-X ($13,199).
The Indy model lineup has grown with the addition of the 550 Indy Voyageur 155 ($7,999) and 550 Indy Adventure 155 ($8,899). The new models are designed for deep snow, trail riding and towing capabilities with Pro-Float skis and high-flotation Cobra 155-inch tracks.
The new Voyageur model is joined by the 600 Indy Voyageur 144 ($10,499) and 550 Indy Voyageur 144 ($7,499). The other Adventure model is the 550 Indy Adventure 144 ($8,399). Additional options in the Indy family are the long-track 550 Indy LXT 144 ($7,499-$7,699) and 550 Indy 144 ($6,999) as well as four performance models: 800 Indy SP ($10,799), 600 Indy SP ($8,999), 600 Indy ($7,999) and 550 Indy ($6,499).
To celebrate the company's 60th anniversary, Polaris is also offering two upgraded options, the 800 Indy SP 60th Anniversary Model and the 600 Indy SP 60th Anniversary Model, both available through SnowCheck Select, which gives riders the ability to choose custom options for their snowmobiles.
RMK and Switchback Assault
The 2015 Polaris models include the RMK, Pro-RMK, Assault and Switchback Assault snowmobiles for performance and extreme terrain riding. They are built on the Pro-Ride RMK chassis with Gripper skis for deep-snow riding. The sleds have a carbon fiber infrastructure for weight savings.
Pro-RMK models also have a QuickDrive Low Inertia Drive System for quicker acceleration and better handling. Meanwhile, the 600 and 800 Switchback Assault 144 models have tipped-up rails, rail reinforcements and a Cobra track.
Terrain Dominator Series Edition sleds are available with the 800 Pro-RMK 155 and 800 Pro-RMK 163 models.
