In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bad Boy Enterprises is recalling its Classic Buggies. Consumers should stop using the units unless otherwise instructed, the government says. About 3,900 units are affected.
According to the CPSC website, the vehicles can accelerate without warning, posing a risk of injury to the user and/or bystander.
Bad Boy Enterprises, which is based in Natchez, Miss., has received 32 reports of unexpected acceleration, including reports of injuries such as a fractured toe, a rotator cuff injury and sore muscles.
This recall involves Bad Boy Buggy Standard model off-road utility vehicles. The affected models have serial numbers between 85004828 and 95010404. The serial number is located on a sticker in a cubby on the driver’s side.
The units were sold by dealers nationwide from June 2007 through July 2009 for about $10,000.
The government is instructing owners to contact a Bad Boy Buggy dealer for a free repair.
