BARSTOW, Calif. – Memorial Day weekend will bring a bang-up grand opening party for the new, much larger location of Barstow Motorcycle Center.

The short-distance move after 19 years in business quadrupled space from about 10,000 sq. ft. to 40,000 sq. ft. Owner Vito Valenti, who also owns the Motorcycle Center in nearby Victorville, has wanted to expand the Barstow store for seven years, and made the move up Main Street when a former hardware store nearby came available.

“This is a prime location; it’s off-road heaven,” general manager Nathan Robinson told the Desert Dispatch. “On the same note you have Route 66, which is prime on-road riding. You can go from here to Victorville and it’s a fun ride, there’s some nice turns and some open highway.”

The high-desert store offers new and used motorcycles, ATVs, SSVs, scooters and full-service vehicle repair, as well as PG&A. The customer base is a mix of locals, military, travelers and customers from surrounding counties and even Nevada. With the new space, the store will boost its on-road PG&A offerings, according to Robinson.

The grand opening will include a barbecue with raffles and prizes June 1 and a ride to popular nearby off-roading spot June 2. The store will also offer 20 percent off in-stock merchandise all weekend.
