In awarding All Pro Motorsports of Waukesha, Wis., the Best Independent award at Friday's Top 100 event, emcees said the store resembles "an old-time motorcycle shop with a modern retail attitude."
Taking a look at pictures of All Pro's showroom, one wouldn't know off-hand that it isn't a franchised dealer. Divided into half cruisers and half sportbikes, the showroom displays 150-plus models at any given time. It's a good thing, too, as the dealership retails more than 500 used bikes a year. Each of those streetbikes left the floor with All Pro's 30-day, unlimited mileage warranty.
While the store doesn't have an F&I department, it does have good working relationships with local banks and credit unions, and assists in getting customers financing, say owners Paul and Traci Konieczny.
Employees are eligible for bonuses, commissions and additional hourly pay for work performed above and beyond their required jobs. Another perk includes a yearly all-expenses paid vacation for every employee and their spouse/significant other. In 2008 the crew flew out to Las Vegas for a four-night, five-day stay at the Monte Carlo Hotel.
All Pro's service area houses five work bays, one of which is reserved strictly for detailing. The shop also has tools to work on all makes and models from 1970 to the present. Go-fast fans can use the shop's dyno testing facility. Besides service, the store offers complete body work and upholstery work. — Dennis Johnson
