As you may have already seen, Tucker Rocky Distributing added a significant amount of floor space to its display here this year.
“This will be the biggest show ever for Tucker Rocky,” says Steve Johnson, CEO of the Texas-based distributor. “We have added a significant amount of space to accommodate a broader selection of our expanding product line and create a more effective and efficient experience for dealers. And we added a completely separate area for ATVs and side-by-side vehicles to create more space to showcase our growing sportbike, helmet and apparel offerings.
“It’s all about servicing our dealers. That’s our central focus. Their success is our success, and we want them to feel comfortable and find what they need.”
TR added more than 80 new suppliers and thousands of new products to its portfolio in 2007, and the distributor’s display area this weekend features an entire wall highlighting all the new products scheduled for delivery to retailers in ’08.
“New products are the lifeblood of any distribution company, and 2007 was a banner year for strengthening our product portfolio,” Johnson says. “For 2008, we are planning on continuing to refine our execution of the basic strategies that we know work. We will continue to search the world for products that our dealers can profitably sell; continue to focus on the daily execution of the basics of fill rate and logistics operations; and continue to find ways to better serve the dealers.”
Johnson says a part of that improved service comes in the form of more representation — the addition of sales representatives who know the product and can share the features, benefits and value with dealer customers.
“In the end, it’s all about forming a partnership where we are adding value to the dealers, where we are viewed as a true partner for the long term,” Johnson tells Dealernews.
