MARION, Ill. – Every parent knows the challenge of getting kids ready to go back to school. Black Diamond Harley-Davidson wants to make sure children have what they need for a good start.

The dealership in this downstate Illinois town will give away 1,500 backpacks filled with basic school supplies to any grade school student in need, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Volunteers will also be available to give free teeth cleaning and fluoride treatments, back to school haircuts, child identification cards, and inspect child car seats for proper installation.

“We wanted to help get grade school kids off to a good start for the new school year,” dealer principal Shad Zimbro said.

Black Diamond H-D teamed up with Illinois’ Bright Start College Savings Program to create the event.
