Black Dog Cycle Works' F800GS skid plate built to protect the Beemer

Black Dog Cycle Works has added a new BMW F800GS skid plate to its lineup of rugged skid plates and motorcycle protection products.

This design utilizes two steel supports on the front and back to brace the skid plate from hard impacts that would typically rip off the OEM stock "skid plate" (a.k.a. splash guard), or other aftermarket skid plates that only utilize four rubber shear bolts for mounting to the bike. The rear steel support attaches to the frame of the bike, giving it greater strength and durability.

Another unique feature is that the plate can be removed/installed with only two bolts. A "keyhole" design in the rear of the plate secures the skid plate to the underlying framework, simplifying maintenance. It is also compatible with the full Remus exhaust system. The F800GS rugged skid plate provides full coverage of the oil cooler, oil filter, engine case, exhaust headers, and catalytic converter.

The F800GS rugged skid plate is made from 3/16 in. aluminum, coated with a tough silver vein powder coat plus a clear powder coat for additional durability.

The F800GS rugged skid plate is available through Black Dog Cycle Works, at www.blackdogcw.com or by calling 208-263-0438. The skid plate retails for $349.
