BMW is planning to recall certain 2006 through 2008 R1200 GS motorcycles for a fuel pump control unit housing seal that may allow water to leak into the part.
The leaking fuel pump control unit housing seal may corrode the fuel pump and allow it to fail. Failure of the fuel pump will cause inadequate fuel to reach the engine and cause the engine to stop running.
The bikes in question were manufactured between August 2006 and January 2008.
BMW has not yet provided the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with a remedy or notification schedule.
Dealers and owners may contact BMW at 800-831-1117.
