Boosting Retail Holiday Sales with Mobile Marketing

“If you’re not including mobile as an integral part of your marketing strategy this holiday season, you’re missing your greatest opportunity to bounce your most valuable customers into your store throughout the holidays and your best chance to bring them back again in January and February,” the paper asserts. It further cites an Opus Research claim that customer response rates from mobile marketing messages are two to 10 times higher than from all other media.

“Almost 90 percent of all Americans own a mobile phone today and nearly 70 million use their mobile their mobile device to access email and the Internet, while 154 million send 3.5 billion text messages daily,” the authors claim.

The paper discusses three holiday programs using mobile marketing that retailers should implement this year, and 10 “need to know” strategies about mobile marketing applications. Suggestions include building advertising campaigns to promoting phone-based “treasure hunts” to building loyalty programs for 2010 sales.
