BRP recalls snowmobiles due to fire hazard

admin

In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, BRP is recalling the 2010 Expedition TUV 1200 and Expedition TUV SE 1200.

Consumers should stop using the units unless otherwise instructed, the government says. About 37 units are affected.

According to the CPSC, friction between the fuel hose and the electronic control unit can cause the hose to wear and leak fuel, posing a fire hazard.

BRP has received six reports of fuel leaks, three of which resulted in fires. One of the incidents involved a rider suffering superficial burns.

The units, made in Finland, were sold by dealers nationwide from March 2009 through April 2010 for between $8,000 and $9,000.

The government is instructing owners to contact a Ski-Doo dealer for a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail.
