The government has reported upcoming recalls for Buell and Kawasaki, detailed below.
Buell is recalling certain 2010 XB12X and XB12XT models. The foot peg mount on the right may have been manufactured to incorrect specifications. This could allow the foot peg to move significantly out of position. Dealers will replace the defective foot peg mount with a new mount. The recall is expected to begin on or before Dec. 14. The potential number of units affected is 23. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 09V465000.
Kawasaki is recalling 2009 and 2010 EX250 Ninja 250 models. Porosity in the engine case could allow engine oil to leak, and be deposited on the rear tire. A small number of upper engine cases for the affected models could have porosity in the aluminum casting. This porosity occurs in the vicinity of a pressurized oil passage just above the transmission output shaft. Dealers will inspect and check for leaks in the vicinity of the suspected porosity. Units showing signs of leakage will be repaired. The recall is expected to begin on or about Dec. 8. The potential number of units affected is 259. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 09V464000.
