BRAMPTON, Ont. – Monday may be Memorial Day in the United States, but Ontario riders had something else to look forward to: the start of Motorcycle Mondays.
The Brampton Motorcycle Association, city representatives, area businesses and Peel Regional Police were at Garden Square May 26 for the first jointly sponsored summer event.
The BMA and city’s Economic Development Office are partnering on a pilot project to make Garden Square a weekly stop for motorcyclists. For the next eight weeks, the area will open up every Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. for bike lovers.
“It’s a meet and greet. It’s a show and shine. It’s a social gathering of bikers,” Mike Davis, activities director for the (BMA), told Muskoka Region.
Davis said the BMA has been working to boost the club’s profile and recently met up with downtown business owners. “It snowballed from there,” he said, adding that several businesses including Brampton Power Sports have signed on as sponsors for the event.
The event “has a great deal of support from the city and from the business. We are hoping [Motorcycle Mondays] will have a great deal of support from residents and bikers in the Brampton area.”
