For many years, distributor Castle has had a plum spot at Dealer Expo — right inside the main entrance to the Indiana Convention Center's largest hall — where dealers could see the latest HJC helmets and Castle snowmobile apparel. This year, dealers also saw a large selection for street apparel and luggage. The gear has been shipping to dealers since last season, but the luggage is brand-new. According to a Castle rep, dealers have liked the snowmobile wear (introduced in 2001) so much that they encouraged the expansion.
New jackets for 2009 include the Flex textile model in men's and women's versions, the Quest adventure-touring model, and a special edition of the sporty Slate Jacket. Castle also has new models of pants and gloves, many of which are made for women. The luggage lineup consists of more than 30 pieces and is constructed of water-resistant synthetic leather, or 1,200-denier nylon, or a combination of the two. Retail prices range from $34.95 for a tool bag to $314.95 for the studded version of the Contour Flat Back saddlebag.
