Anyone looking to trade this bike in is flunking the IQ test.
A motorcycle signed by country music celebrities was stolen before it could be auctioned to benefit the Lexington, Ky., affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, says Penny Gilbert, executive director.
The pink 2010 Harley-Davidson Sportster was locked inside a trailer, and thieves took the whole rig. The bike carries signatures of Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift, among others.
The trailer was secured by chains and had been parked in the organization's parking lot in the Hamburg area, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Employees going to work Monday morning noticed that it was missing and called police.
Gilbert said the bike, donated by Wildcat Harley-Davidson of London (a Top 100 Dealer) along with the $5,000 trailer, was valued at $15,000 without the custom paint job and autographs.
The foundation had hoped to raise $100,000 from the bike, which was to be awarded in a raffle before the Race for the Cure Oct. 16.
Gilbert laments: "We've missed that opportunity now."
