Changes on tap for International 500 snowmobile race

Organizers are already preparing for the 43rd running of the International 500 Snowmobile Race in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The race is scheduled for Feb. 5, but recent blizzards have sledders chomping at the bit to ride.

I-500 spokesman Ric Federau says this year’s activities will include a new event. The Lakes & Trails Powersports Vintage Dash will run Feb. 3 and feature older sleds powered by 340 and 440 engines.

Veteran racer Chad Colby will leave the course this year and take a turn in the announcer’s booth.
