FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Guinness Book of World Records has recognized the Realities For Children organization with a new world record for its annual Realities Ride fundraising poker run.

“We are delighted to confirm that Realities For Children has successfully achieved a new Guinness World Records title for ‘World’s Largest Motorcycle Poker Run’. We would like to congratulate you on your record-breaking achievement. You are officially amazing,” reads an October 2013 letter from Guinness.

The record was attempted at the 12th Annual Realities Ride held May 26 that raised more than $120,000 to benefit abused and neglected children in Larimer County. The five-month validation process gives Larimer County bragging rights as the home of the “World’s Largest Motorcycle Poker Run.”

The Realities Ride has been verified by two separate world record organizations. Elite World Records confirmed 1,531 participants and Guinness World Records acknowledged 1,494 participants. This small difference proved to be insignificant, as the record nearly triples the previous world record of 586 participants. Each rider that helped to set this new record is eligible for a participation certificate, and photos from the Realities Ride may be featured in the next Guinness Book of World Records.

Realities For Children is an alliance of local businesses working to provide for the unmet needs of Larimer County children who have been abused or neglected. All of the donations raised at this event benefit the youth served by the organization through a collaboration with 22 area nonprofits.
