The pads’ “tailbone notch” design is now included on all five sizes.
In addition, a 1/2-inch layer of soft memory foam now covers the molded gel on top, and a second 1/3-inch layer of firm memory foam covers the bottom. The memory foam contours to the rider’s shape, reportedly eliminating pressure points.
At the core of the Comfort Max Gel Pad is Viscoelastic molded gel used in medical and sports applications. The memory foam/gel sandwich absorbs vibration, small bumps and road irregularities, according to the manufacturer.
American Motorcycle Specialties said a sheepskin wool cover also conforms to the rider’s shape and eliminates localized pressure. “Genuine sheepskin covers provide increased comfort and allow air to circulate, virtually eliminating perspiration in hot weather and providing warmth in cold weather,” the company claimed.
Comfort Max Gel Pads feature a rubberized bottom to prevent them from sliding off the seat. The pads also come with a removable strap.
The pads are available in five sizes and come with a 30-day return policy. The molded gel is guaranteed for life. Suggested retail ranges from $69.95 to $129.95.
Tucker Rocky and Biker’s Choice are the pads’ exclusive distributors.
