Police in Wichita, Kansas, are warning riders to lock their bikes up tight because of a rash of motorcycle thefts.
Riding season means shaking off the cover and hitting the road. That gives thieves more opportunities to steal bikes. The Wichita Police Department is working on a public service announcement to raise awareness about motorcycle thefts, according to KWCH.
Ross Reed, owner of Mid America Powersports, told the station that motorcycle owners sometimes get lazy and don't use simple preventative measures, including disc and steering locks. That won’t stop thieves who target storage areas and haul away motorcycles with trucks.
Reed’s advice for motorcycle owners is to make your bike so difficult to steal that a thief will look for an easier target.
