Dealer lets kids ride dirtbikes at local home show

A British Columbia powersports dealer is planning some outreach to youngsters, with an appearance at the Ridge Meadows Home Show next weekend.

Western Powersports of Langley, B.C., a new and used Yamaha and Triumph dealership, will offer the Western Yamaha Riding Academy, giving kids between the ages of 6 and 12 years a chance to ride a motorcycle. The demo is part of the Outdoor Lifestyle and Leisure Show, which was added to the home show last year.

Twenty minutes of training includes instruction by trained professionals on either a Yamaha TTR50E or TTR90, according to the Langley Advance. Trainers will fit the youths with gloves, goggles and helmets before they take a spin on a soft grass track, first with the help of an instructor and then, in some cases, on their own.
