Family PowerSports, a chain of five stores in Texas, claims to be the first powersports retailer to sell directly on its Facebook page.

“Facebook has become one of the single most visited sites on the Internet,” Todd Shafer, the store’s director of multichannel sales and marketing, stated in a news release. “It’s so large, and so engaging, that it’s almost become an Internet unto itself. As a premier retailer of powersports vehicles, accessories and apparel, it just makes sense that Family PowerSports creates a way to serve our customers where they are hanging out online. More and more, that’s on Facebook.”

Launched a little over a month ago, Family PowerSports’ Facebook page already has close to 500 fans that use it as a way to keep up to date with what’s going on at the stores. The storefront was a recent addition.

Wade Hoak is Family PowerSports’ vice president. “This Facebook storefront,” he said, “is just a small initial step in terms of what we’ve got coming online in the next few months. We see the Web as offering almost unlimited growth potential for our dealership. We’re committed to doing everything we can to make it easier for people all over the U.S. to be Family PowerSports customers.”

Family PowerSports is a Dealernews Top 100 dealer. It also graced the cover of our August 2009 issue. Click here to read the profile.
