Powersports dealer Doug Farnen of Salisbury is running for State Representative of Missouri’s 22nd District.
Farnen, who owns Doug’s Cycle Shop in Salisbury, is serving his third term as city alderman for Salisbury.
“Over the years I have seen many occasions where a well-meaning government solution creates more problems than it solves. Even at the local level it is easy to go along with the crowd when an issue is brought up without considering potential unintended consequences. We should be encouraging personal responsibility rather than dependence on government,” he told the Moberly Monitor. “Every favor the government grants to one group increases the burden of another group. Government protection becomes an illusion when it pits one group of citizens against another...Today we have too many career politicians supported by special interest money who have lost touch with the common people. I want to hear all sides of an issue before deciding whether the government should play a role in the solution.”
Farnen serves on the Linn State Technical College Advisory Board for the Powersport Technology Program and previously served as VP of the Missouri State Powersports Dealer Association. He spent eight years as a certified MSF motorcycle instructor and 20 years as a licensed ATV instructor.
