WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Riders can turn a benefit into a vacation with the The Dream Ride Experience, a 13 year-old effort started by grocery mogul Mike Bozzuto to raise funds and awareness of intellectually challenged children and adults and to make contributions to Special Olympics.

The 1,900-mile ride travels scenic byways of the Mid-Atlantic states from West Palm Beach, Fla., to Farmington, Conn., Aug. 16 to 22, followed by two days of motorsports shows, rides and entertainment at the destination, Aug. 23 and 24.

The ride has turned into an international fundraising effort that now spans three countries and a dozen states to celebrate with Special Olympics athletes and to recognize their achievements and efforts to overcome intellectual challenges.

A public kickoff event Aug. 16 at the PGA National Resort & Spa provides entertainment, fun, food and pet adoptions as riders get ready for the Dream Ride. Special Olympics athletes will be there to cheer their friends on their journey.

The event is open to the public; donate at www.dreamride.org and follow the ride on Facebook or Twitter. Call 203-250 5112 to register by phone or email ccaramia@bozzutos.com.
