Talk about brilliant marketing moves. This weekend, the Ducati All Stars — a group of Ducati-riding punk and rock legends — will blast up the West Coast on a three-state tour of key Ducati dealerships. The band will make stops and perform at stores from Santa Barbara, Calif., to Seattle.
The stores on the scheduled stops are already advertising and getting the word out on such venues as Facebook about the shows, a move sure to entice existing and future customers in to hear a lineup that includes: guitarist Steve Jones (Sex Pistols, guitarist Billy Morrison (Camp Freddy and Billy Idol), guitarist Billy Duffy (The Cult) and lead vocalist/percussionist Frankie Perez (Scars on Broadway. The super-group made its debut at Los Angeles' Roxy Theatre earlier in 2010.
A press release from Ducati adds, "As with previous performances you can expect the unexpected with a surprise guest or two showing up along the way. The free shows are open to the public. The scheduled stops are:
- April 17: Ducati Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara, Calif.
- April 18: Moto Italiano - Santa Cruz, Calif.
- April 20: Munroe Motors - San Francisco, Calif.
- April 22: Ducati Eugene - Eugene, Ore.
- April 23: Motocorsa - Portland, Ore.
- April 24: Ducati Seattle - Seattle, Wash.
For fans unable to catch the band in-person, the Ducati All Stars will be blogging its entire adventure via the bands website: www.ducatiallstars.com . In addition to the All Stars blog, the web site will feature photos, video and details on a contest where fans can enter to win Steve Jones' Gibson acoustic guitar played during this tour.
