Ducati recalls small number of Diavels for kickstand changeout

DUCATI is recalling 2012-2013 model year Diavels made from May 28 through June 28 to replace the unit's side stand, which may bend or break. The number of units affected in this particular recall, according to NHTSA, is small: only 27.

"The side stand could bend or break in the pivot area, allowing the motorcycle to fall over, increasing the risk of personal injury to the operator or others near the motorcycle. Even without falling over, a bent sidestand may interfere with the proper operation of the sidestand safety switch, preventing the bike from starting or causing the bike to stall without warning," the agency noted.

Ducati will notify owners. Authorized dealers are asked to replace the side stand, free of charge. The OEM has not provided a notification schedule, the agency noted.
