Ducati reveals Monster 796 and body panel kits

Ducati North America today announced the 2011 Monster 796. It also revealed new colors for the entire Monster range in the form of 10 Monster Art body panel kits.

Ducati says the Monster 796 combines the “top-level components and style of the Monster 1100 with the user-friendliness of the Monster 696.” Priced at $9,995, the 796 will be available in June in white, black and Ducati red. All three colors share the trellis frame in red, along with red wheel striping.

The 796’s air-cooled engine produces a claimed 87 hp and 56 ft./lbs. of torque. The bike weighs 367 lbs. and has a new seat, higher handlebars and optional passenger grab handles. Borrowing from the 1100, it has a single-sided swing arm and four-piston Brembo brakes.

Other features include an APTC slipper clutch, blackened foot rests, and new five-spoke wheels.

Arriving alongside the latest Monster will be the Monster Art body kits for all three members of the Monster family, giving riders the chance to customize the look of their bikes with 10 new color choices. The kits allow riders to change panels to suit their mood or an event. They can “dress” their bikes in as little as 10 minutes, Ducati says. The Monster Art kit includes tank covers, a mudguard, a micro-bikini fairing and seat cover.

The color options include three solid colors and seven historical Ducati liveries:

  • “Giallo Ducati” Ducati Yellow
  • “Lilla Glamour” Lilac
  • “Arancione Scrambler” Ducati Scrambler Orange
  • “Ducati Corse” inspired by the new Ducati Corse logo
  • “Imola 72” in honor of the Imola 200-winning 750SS
  • “Darmah,” modelled after the legendary black and gold striping of the late ’70s
  • “Isle of Mann 79,” a tribute to Ducati’s 1978 Senior TT win
  • “Pantah,” Ducati’s iconic logo from the ’80s
  • “Mach 1,” a vibrant red in the spirit of the ’60s
  • “Sport 100,” a historic blue from Ducatis of the past

The Monster Art panel accessories will retail for $599.99. For details on the Monster 796, Monster Art kits and the “Second Skin” promotion, visit www.ducatiusa.com. Through the Second Skin promotion, people who buy a new 1000 or 1000 S through June 30 will receive a free Monster Art body kit.
