Ducati sells out $65,000 Desmosedici

Every single one of the 1,500 Ducati Desmosedici RR bikes has been sold.

Ducati's dealer network has been taking reservations for the Desmosedici RR since June 2, 2006, a day after the prototype was introduced at the 2006 Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the unit is $65,000.

Production of the limited edition motorcycle began in October. The first deliveries are reserved to 999R owners who placed their Desmosedici RR order before Sept. 30, 2006. Ducati says production of all remaining orders will be completed by December 2008.

Ducati says the Desmosedici's new D16RR engine puts out 200 hp at 13,800 rpm and 85.4 lb-ft. of torque at 10,500 rpm. Purchasers receive a three-year warranty, three years of routine maintenance, a racing exhaust with CPU, bike cover, certificate of authenticity, paddock stand, and a team sponsor decal kit on the Team Version model.
