MORE THAN 1,100 exhibitors from an estimated 40 countries are expected to attend INTERMOT 2008, Oct. 8 to 12 in Cologne, Germany.

INTERMOT is an international motorcycle trade and consumer show held every two years. Organizers say INTERMOT 2006 attracted approximately 187,000 visitors from more than 100 countries. The exhibition halls span more than 1.29 million square feet of space. An adjacent outdoor area features about 18.5 acres devoted to racetracks, demo events and other exhibitions.

INTERMOT is a production of the German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM) in cooperation with Koelnmesse GmbH, the firm responsible for events staged at Cologne's exhibition center. The IVM says its plan for 2008 is to further strengthen INTERMOT's dual role as a trade event and consumer fair.

The IVM says 52,363 trade visitors attended INTERMOT 2006, and that 37 percent of those trade visitors came from abroad. A visitor survey revealed more than 72 percent of the trade visitors were self-employed proprietors, managing directors, managers of central departments, or department heads employed in senior positions.

Dealer Cards, Matchmaking
Koelnmesse is marketing a variety of offerings designed to make it easy for international visitor to attend.

Among the offerings: the Dealer Card, a special admission ticket for trade visitors which offers numerous benefits, and an online "matchmaking" service enabling buyers from around the world to arrange their trade fair visits in line with their specific needs during the run-up to the fair.

The Dealer Card is available as a one-day ticket, two-day ticket or show-long pass. Purchase of the Dealer Card offers trade visitors the following added benefits:

  • a lanyard identifying dealers and offering exclusive access to a special car park, ticket office and lounge.
  • access for lanyard holder and a guest to the Dealer's Lounge, where trade visitors can work in a quiet atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the fair, as well as relax and dine. The lounge features state-of-the-art communications technology and is a pleasant setting for enjoying a drink or a bite to eat. Each Dealer Card holder also is entitled to bring along one guest to the lounge.
  • free travel on Cologne's public transport system
  • fast lane access into the event without the need to queue in the entrance area.

Koelnmesse says it also hopes to connect businesses online, before the show even begins. The fair's online "matchmaking" tool allows trade visitors to more easily target and gather information about companies and their product lines. (Continued)
