Feds to Address Motorcycle Safety

admin
Motorcycle safety is the top item on the agenda during the National Transportation Safety Board's public board meeting Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Washington, D.C. Only a few days ago, federal transportation officials released 2006 fatality data indicating the fatal accident rate on U.S. roads continues to drop — except for motorcycling fatalities and drunken driving fatalities.

The board will discuss draft recommendations that resulted from its public forum on motorcycle safety that occurred Sept. 12-13, 2006, when the board gathered information on ongoing motorcycle research and countermeasures to reduce the likelihood of motorcycle accidents and fatalities. The meeting included participants representing government, motorcycle manufacturers, motorcyclist associations, state motorcycle rights organizations, trauma physicians, law enforcement, and insurance companies.
