Fire gutted AAA Cycle Service in Lawrence, Ind., early this morning, according to news reports.
Authorities had to shut down the street around the shop for fear the building would collapse. “We didn’t want to take a chance with pedestrians or vehicular traffic,” Lawrence Fire Chief Dino Batalis told the Indianapolis Star.
Firefighters were called to AAA Cycle Service just before 1 a.m., after patrol officer reported the fire. Lawrence, Buck Creek and Indianapolis firefighters spent two hours battling the blaze that destroyed the shop and about 75 motorcycles.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. The building was a total loss, with all of the building’s contents sustaining either fire or water damage, Batalis said.
