SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - Mark Williams was more hands-on than most dealers when he designed the home of vintage bike shop Montgomery Motorcycle Co.

The former general contractor and movie set builder left the drama of Hollywood after a building dispute landed in court, and decided to change occupations. So he redesigned a former transmission shop to look as vintage as the bikes he renovates and services - 1920s to 1970s era.

He used the worn, paint-stained exterior for the interior of the new building, along with salvaged wood floors and shop and display tables made from parts salvaged from repair shops across Southern California. Accent lights on the ceiling are made from headlights, there’s a beer tap for parties made from an old grease cart and a television showing motorcycle movies on a loop.

Bikes start at around $3,000 and range to about $16,000."There are some vintage bikes available for well over $100,000," Williams told the Orange County Register
