HOLLY HILL, Fla. – Redevelopment means freedom to grow for Freedom Cycles of Daytona, which won unanimous City Commission approval Aug. 27 to move to the site of a former Denny’s restaurant so it can expand.

Dealer principal Scott Floyd told the Daytona Beach News-Journal his business has been growing fast and he needs to expand, and the new site in a redevelopment corridor will give the store more visibility as well as space.

“The future looks great for the redevelopment of the Holly Hill-Ridgewood corridor,” he said.

Lynn Dehlinger, the city’s economic development director, said the city has been trying to recruit motorcycle businesses to attracting bikers who come to the area for Bike Week and Biketoberfest. The city holds its annual Hogs on the Hill event during Bike Week.

Freedom Cycles will be required to install landscaping at the new site, which sat vacant for five years, and a monument sign that will be paid for by community redevelopment funds. Floyd plans to open at the new site by Oct. 1.
