Gateway Harley-Davidson doubles down on USO bike raffle

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Gateway Harley-Davidson is gearing up to award a 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster to a lucky service member or veteran Nov. 10, at the same time he or she draws the winner of a Street Glide raffle.

Throughout the year, the dealership has sold $10 raffle tickets for the chance to win a 2012 Street Glide. Each time a raffle ticket is purchased, Gateway enters a military member’s name into the Sportster drawing. All of the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the USO of Missouri. Both motorcycles will be given away at 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at a dealership event that is expected to draw 4,000 current and former military – because the winner must be present to win the Sportster.

“Tying the military presence of our surrounding community into the family of Harley-Davidson has inspired us to include all local, active/reserve/guard military personnel in the Sportster giveaway,” dealer principal Rene Creed told the Post-Dispatch. “The USO of Missouri does amazing things for the people who protect our Country. It is so important that we support this organization and its mission.”

While Gateway has never before raffled a free motorcycle to a military member, this is the ninth “Year of the USO” campaign. Impressively the dealership has raised more than $100,000 for the USO of Missouri within that time.
