Get Ahead In School, Not Just on the Track

Distance learning company On Track is launching a new program this fall to bring distance learning to the motocross athlete.

On Track provides educational options for the athlete on the go. Founder Andrea Leib says there are no excuses for putting an education on the back burner and has designed the new On Track Virtual Academy with programs that can fit the demands of the powersports lifestyle.

The On Track Virtual Academy provides students with a blend of text- and computer-based curriculum from K-12, based on "the big idea" concept. Leib got K-12's permission to customize the curriculum for her own accredited school.

Students will be able to see a clear picture of their courses, materials, progress, and expectations online, as well as attend a virtual classroom with a live teacher, see demonstrations and attend weekly meetings. The platform also lets parents monitor progress. On Track uses a team contract among the student, the home coach and the learning coach sign an agreement.

The On Track Virtual Academy has also filed for non-profit status with the prospect of attaining grants that will provide further resources to students and families. By the 2009-2010 school year, On Track hopes to have a California charter school.
